Catherine Swoboda is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Horticulture at Iowa State University (ISU). Her teaching responsibilities are focused on courses for the Global Resource Systems major. Prior to her time at ISU, Catherine worked as the Director of Iowa and Midwest Education Programs for The World Food Prize Foundation, where she helped create and direct the Iowa Youth Institute, a World Food Prize and ISU event that inspires high school-aged youth to address agriculture and environmental sustainability challenges around the world. She was also appointed to the Iowa Governor's STEM Advisory Council, promoting STEM initiatives.

Catherine joined CSRL as an Associate Director for Community Education in June 2025 with responsibilities for various programs related to children, youth, and adult education in the Kamuli District including the school garden programs, school improvements, youth entrepreneurship programming, and skilling of young mothers.
